Born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland, B.J. Pryor attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. He graduated in 1978 with a B.A. in History. Since 1980 he has worked for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and has appeared exclusively in their productions with one exception. In 1999, he portrayed the officiating clergyman at the bicentennial recreation of George Washington's funeral at Mount Vernon. The event was broadcast live on C-SPAN, and re-broadcast occasionally thereafter.
