He was born in Bogota, raised in Spain. Began acting studies in Bogota with Edgardo Roman and then continued formation in New York at the Lee Starsberg Institute. His first play was Cronica de una muerte anunciada in 2000, directed by Jorge Ali Triana. In the year 2003 he married Paula Quinteros, a talented journalist, in Los Roques, Venezuela, in a barefoot Celtic ceremony.
