If not for Tom Cruise, John Bertholon probably would have won the role of Nathan Detroit in the GRHS '80 production of "Guys and Dolls." His career in production started in Los Angeles in the early 90s working in art departments while studying acting and filmmaking. But it wasn't until the mid 90s that a career producing television began with the pilot for the first ever reality series on technology and culture. It took two years and two pilots before the series was picked up, but its success in broadcast syndication and later distribution by Discovery launched Bertholon's career as a show-runner.
