Born and raised on a farm in the mountains of Virginia, Barry Ratcliffe was the youngest of 7 among 5 boys and 2 girls. In high school, Barry was active in sports, politics, and performance arts. Upon graduating, he completed a course at Carolina School of Broadcasting, a 2 year degree in engineering from Virginia Western, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Radford University in Journalism and Theatre. While attending Radford, he performed in plays, hosted a television show, was President of the Student Body for 2 years, Chairman of 4 activity organizations, host for the Miss Radford Pageant for 2 years, active in sports, as well as worked a full time job managing the athletic facilities on campus. After earning a degree at Radford, Barry compiled an extensive resume in corporate America and in the entertainment field. His eclectic experience includes life guarding at the beach, managing a state water park, Manager and National Corporate Trainer for Roger Penske, Manager for Hertz Car Rental at their largest revenue location in the world, 13 state Area Manager for Budget Truck Rental, Sales Manager for 65 million dollars Sun Microsystems National Sales Group, and Business Development Manager for the California Drug free Workplace Programs.His entertainment portfolio is no less impressive. He played a sketch artist and detective on the CBS show Nash Bridges with Don Johnson and Cheech Marin for 6 years, 118 episodes. His television appearances include a recurring role as Dr. David Moss, on TLC's number one show, "Untold Stories of the ER", as well as playing the lead investigator on "The Michael Jackson Trial" on E!, "Americas Most Wanted", "Threshold", "Nip Tuck", "The Plot to Kill Nixon", "The Hiedi Fliess Story", and many others. He currently host a show "In the Cellar", and has acted in 30+ films from independent, too 100 million dollar features including stunts, opened as a Stand Up Comedian for acts like Juice Newton and Lee Greenwood, as well as produced and co hosted a show in San Francisco for 4 years.Barry is currently starring in 8 films including "Candy Stripers" distributed by Screen Gems, playing a slightly twisted Chief of Surgery, Dr. Dixon, , "Go For Broke 2", playing Texas billionaire Hooter Sinclaire, the Sony Western "Brothers in Arms", playing Mr. Hickle with David Carradine, "Mad World", a drama where he plays the dad, Mr. Bunch, "The 9/11 Commission Report" playing ex CIA director George Tenant, "No Rules" with Pacino and Sizemore, "Dead and Breakfast" with David Carradine, and "Tweek City", a gritty drama playing a cop in San Francisco. He has also just completed writing and starring in the feature film "Pocahauntus", to be released in the spring.He can also be seen as a regular at the Star Room at the famed Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip.His goals are simple. To be the best performer he can be, whether it is as a great character actor in dramatic or comedic roles, or as a stand up, entertaining with his intelligent, and insightful commentary on today's events.
