Christopher Llewellyn Reed was born in Stanford, California, in 1969, and moved to Baltimore, Maryland, in the late 1970s. After graduating from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Chris attended Harvard University, where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Russian Language and Literature. He spent the next 5 years teaching French and Russian at two New England Colle Prep Schools - Philips Exeter Academy and Choate Rosemary Hall - while also earning his Master's Degree in Russian and East European Studies from Yale (with a central focus on Russian film and the work of Andrei Tarkovsky).After Choate, he worked as an international tour guide, traveling the globe while applying to film schools.Since receiving his MFA from the Graduate Film program at NYU, Chris has worked as both a narrative and documentary filmmaker.Chris has directed a number of short films, including Divinity, All About George (winner of many awards at film festivals, including Best Student Film at the Pacific Coast Film Festival), Nail Polish (which had its American premiere at the Rhode Island Film Festival in August, 2004), and Taryn Murphy, his just completed 30-minute documentary about a young woman who suffers from Alpha Mannosidosis, a rare genetic disease. He has also worked on numerous other projects as producer, director of photography, assistant director, gaffer, sound recordist, assistant camera, and editor.Chris's feature credits include Spread Eagles (2005, JoDa Hodge), on which he was the DP (shot on HD), and Pagans (2003, Jamie Yerkes), on which he was the editor.Chris has also worked as an actor in Colorforms and Confection, and on Sesame Street in Alphabet Pam (P is for Pizza) (all three films by noted short film director, Eva Saks)Chris has taught for a variety of film schools, including the New York Film Academy and the School of Cinema and Performing Arts (of which he is a founding faculty member), and has been an Adjunct Professor in the Theater, Film & Dance Department at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. From September, 2003, to August, 2005, Chris was the Director of Media Arts at Little Red School House and Elisabeth Irwin High School (LREI) in Manhattan. Since January, 2006, Chris has been an adjunct faculty member in the Video Production Department at the Art Institute of New York.When not teaching, Chris spends time working as a Video Artist in the Pediatrics Units of Yale-New Haven Hospital, and also directs, shoots and edits a variety of short promotional films for non-profit organizations in the New York area.Starting in September, 2006, Chris will begin teaching at Villa Julie College, near Baltimore, in the Film, Video and Theatre Department.
