Born March 23, 1963 Rockford, Illinois, the youngest of six children in the family. His mother, ran the household and his father was a musician. The family moved quite a bit but finally settled on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the town of Pass Christian. Rus got his start in local theater and garnered attention as a teenager while competing in national theater competitions. As a result he was offered several college scholarships and attended the University of Southern Mississippi before going on to study at New York's Circle in the Square Theatre School. After school in New York he starting working in daytime and episodic TV as well as in the theater. He then moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his career. He started to get roles on episodic television and film with shows such as With Hostile Intent (1995) (TV), "From the Earth to the Moon" (1998) (mini), and the Disney show "Emerald Cove" (1993). He has appeared in several films including Instinct (1999), _The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)_ , Chapter Zero (1999), The Code Conspiracy (2001) and in post production now, Dunsmore (2003), in which he plays the sheriff Cal Miller. The film was shot entirely in Florida, directed by the University Of Miami graduate Peter Spirer. Rus is also a director, producer and teacher and has his own production company. He enjoys sports, the outdoors, music and writing.
