Son of Hans Brenner and Monica Bleibtreu At 17, he went to Paris, France to work as an au pair. Has studied acting in Paris, Rome and New York 1999: Named as one of European films 'Shooting Stars' by European Film Promotion. Ranked #2 in a list by tabloid "Bild" searching "the 50 most beautiful Germans of today" (29 April 2005). Lives in Berlin and Hamburg together with his longtime companion Clarice de Castro. Is fluent in German, English, French and Italian. His surname "Bleibtreu" means "remain faithful" (an imperative) or a shortened version of "I will remain faithful". Said he had the worst time of his life when he attended acting classes in New York because students were treated inhumanly there.
