Bill Simmons, "The Boston Sports Guy", first gained notoriety as a freelance sports columnist with his own website on AOL. Later, he was added to the roster of ESPN's "Page 2" columnists and propelled the page and himself to widespread popularity. He was recruited as a writer for "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (2003) based on that work.
