Teunkie van der Sluijs / Biography

Born in Roermond, Limburg, the Netherlands on January 18th, 1981, and grew up in Horn, the Netherlands. Van der Sluijs has had a strong interest in acting and theater from an early age, and trained at Rotterdam's Cabaret Academy from 1998-2000, having been accepted at the age of 17. He went on to read Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Amsterdam, where he also worked as a tutor. During this time, he started working as an actor professionally, and work included various theater roles and a part on popular Dutch soap opera "Goede tijden, slechte tijden" (1990).Aged just 20, he was a founding member of Dutch theater company 'Het Verdriet van de Zeedijk.' He still frequently directs their productions, and tours with the company have taken him to North America, North Africa and throughout Europe. He later moved to London, UK to study theater directing at Rose Bruford College, and is still active as an actor (mostly for theater productions) there and in the Netherlands.
