Graduated from Indiana University with a double major in theater and psychology. Has a son named Benjamin (b. 2000) and a daughter, Rene Marie (b. July 2002) His middle names, Paul Gerard, come from the saints his mother prayed to during her difficult pregnancy (she was 47 at the time). Youngest of 11 children. Married his high school sweetheart.
