Marcel trained and developed his acting and performing capabilities at the Australian Theatre for Young People, plus he practised his musical talent at the Australian Institute for Music. Marcel's career kicked off in the theatre when he played the character Tom in Away in 1992, and roles in Grease and The Boyfriend followed after that. In 1995, Marcel appeared in the Australian television shows Cody, Home and Away and Fallen Angels, before he gained the role of his Heartbreak High character Lee Delaine. Marcel also played in several films including Oh S**t! and Doing Time with Patsy Cline.
