Brother of Alun Lewis Godfather of actress Hayley Mills's firstborn son, Crispian Mills. An Associate Member of RADA. Appeared three times in films with the budding adult Hayley Mills. The first was his breakthrough role in The Family Way (1966); the second was Twisted Nerve (1968) and the third was Endless Night (1971). His London stage debut was as Ophelia in "Hamlet" at the opening of the Queen's Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue. The production was staged by the Youth Theatre. It was traditional for men to play female roles in Shakespeare's time, and at 15, Bennett's voice hadn't broken yet. In later years he played the title Dane himself in a South African production. He joined the National Youth Theatre where he stayed for five years, playing many leading Shakespearian roles. He was born in Garnant in the Amman Valley but went to Henry Horton Grammar School in London and trained at RADA.
