Nicholas Brandt was born in Western New York. He graduated from Tonawanda High School as Valedictorian in 1994 and went on to study Film at the University of Rochester. After he graduated with his BA in Film Studies (Magna Cum Laude) in 1998, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a writing career.He worked his way up the ladder on low budget features before getting his "big time" break on Planet of the Apes. Afterwards, he worked in the production offices of numerous films, sometimes credited, sometimes not.Brandt wrote the film Hollywood Kills after meeting with the producers and has other scripts (including a re-teaming with creatives from that, Angels There Attend) in various stages of development.
