Joel Nassan grew up in Northern California, where he worked at a funeral home all through high school. After skipping school to sneak onto film sets in the wine country, he realized cinema was in his blood. He then moved to Los Angeles to attended Santa Monica College, and after being rejected by USC's film program 3 times, he finally transferred to Biola University where he graduated in 2006.
