Ali Hossam Nasser was born on 25th March 1985 in Giza, Egypt. His parents moved to Kuwait for the next four years, where Ali was a student of the Gulf English School (giving him an early start in learning English). His passion for acting began as a child when he would often imitate cartoon characters he saw on TV, and would perform various impersonations to his family or relatives. His family returned to Egypt immediately before the Gulf War in 1990, and he continued studying at Manor House School until he earned his IGCSE in 2002. It was during that time when Ali developed an appreciation of movies and filmmaking, in which he decided to share his opinions and criticisms on filmic issues and current releases through writing at the film section of Egypt-based TeenStuff magazine. Upon his entrance at the American University in Cairo (where he majored in Business Administration), he satisfied his passion for acting by minoring in Theatre and taking part in several theatrical productions at AUC as well as short student films. His real breakthrough however came in 2006, where he was handpicked by renowned Egyptian director Sherif Arafa to play the role of Ahmed, the medical intern in the high-budget Egyptian hospital drama "Lahzat harega" (2007). He recently graduated from AUC with a BBA and a double minor in Film and Theatre in fall 2006. While he still regards acting as a hobby, he continues being involved in the movie business whether as an actor, or merely as a film critic.
