He is one-third of the mega hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, along with Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad. In 2002, he recorded a second solo album titled "Kamaal the Abstract" that was never released. Current legal name is Kamal Ibn John Fareed.
