Attributes most of his success to his Mom, Ethel Stokes, who passed away suddenly at Christmas in 2002. She was and will always be his best friend.
He attended Fresno Missionary Baptist Institute in Fresno, California. He is currently attending Calvary Bible Church in Burbank, California.
Considers Child Psychologist, David Swanson, to be his life mentor and friend.
His mother, Ethel, raised Kerry and his four siblings by herself with much love and a welfare check. At the age of seven, he remembers the family being down to one old cast iron pot of beans, which had to last for three days. Kerry has a fond memory of his Mom dishing out beans to all the kids and yet not having enough for herself. It was that kind of love and faith in God that brought him to his current success.
Met his father, Junior, for the first time in 1982.
Discovered that he had an array of eccentric relatives.
His great great grandfather was a Texas Ranger.
His maternal great great grandfather, William Wood, was a traveling Baptist preacher who left the calling to become an actor.
Kerry's maternal grandfather, Tiny Stokes, played guitar with Merle Haggard in a country music band.
While performing in 'Murder by Night', he developed a deep admiration for writer and director, Carole Kean. She helped him to grow as an actor and a human being. Her death came as a shock, yet he will always remember her as a fabulous person and actress.
While doing community theater in Fresno, he met and became best friend to French actor, Alexis Cremieux. The both of them rented a u-haul and moved to Los Angeles in 1991.
Mitzi Shore of 'The Comedy Store', in West Hollywood, selected Kerry to perform in "Dante's Comic Show", in the Belly Room. He got on the list every week for a year in 1992.
