Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Gerrick is the oldest of seven children. Gerrick only began acting at the age of 26, when a former agent in Nashville, Tennessee decided that he would sent Gerrick on auditions for commercials, as well as doing work as a commercial print model. Gerrick later moved to north of the border with his wife Karin in 2000 so she could pursue a career as a medical doctor. Since then Gerrick has landed various roles in television movies, including the Emmy nominated television movie, "The Ron Clark Story", starring Matthew Perry. He resides in London, Ontario, where he's pursuing work in theatre. He and his wife have two children, a girl and a boy.
