Deren P. Abram began his career in theatre, designing and stage-managing dozens of stage performances. He has worked as a freelance artist for Indiana University's MainStage theatre (were he also pursued his Master's degree), Brown County Playhouse, and Indianapolis Repertory Theatre. In 1995, Deren moved to Los Angeles and began work on the successful television series Tales from the Crypt. He continued to work on a variety of feature films and television projects as Production Designer and in 1998, Deren formed Film Pharm, Inc. where he continues to serve as the company's Visual Supervisor and C.E.O. He also continued to serve as Visual Supervisor for various TV projects including ABC Sports/ NFL's Monday Night Football-- for which he won an EMMY (2003)-- and the acclaimed ESPY Awards, X-Games and several other projects. Deren has been nominated for a total of three Emmy Awards.Deren writes, produces, directs, edits and designs. Deren has also developed a variety of projects for Film, TV, video and other multi-media like Smartz!-- the math and science board game and TV game show for kids-- a joint venture with Valerie Harper. Other clients include Vons, Safeway, Pavilions and Southern California Edison, ESPN, ABC Sports and Disney, to name a few.After a decade of working in Film and Television on multi-million dollar features to micro-budgets, and everything in between, Deren began creating his own film, television, and video projects. In 2004, his first project was Video Classroom: Space and Sea starring Dom DeLuise, a kid's video that has been lauded as "one of the finest educational programs directed toward young children".Deren has also just completed his feature film documentary The Hollywood Dream and a direct to DVD series Offstage Lunch with Dom DeLuise (both projects have a Fall 2007 release). Additionally, he produces and directs many corporate videos for national companies, and is actively involved in several charities.In 2006, Deren left Los Angeles to return to the Midwest with his family. He lives in Barrington (Chicago Suburbs) and is the proud father of two children, Madeleine and Benjamin.
