From 1993 to 1998 he performed at L.A. venues such as The Comedy Store with his improv troupe "Are You Talkin' Ta Me?".
He began his acting career in New York where he appeared in 10 Rap music videos, almost always playing a "mean" white guy.
He played Demetrius in Ill Met by Moonlight (1994), a punk/alternative update of "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream," adapted and directed by noted horror novelist S.P. Somtow.
In 1997, the L.A. Weekly labeled him "hysterical" for his work in the hit play "Crappie Talk" by award-winning playwright Phil Olson.
Robert has a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Management from New York University. He also has a Certificate in Filmmaking from NYU's School of Continuing Education.
He won a cash prize for a sketch that he co-wrote and performed with actor K.C. Marsh on "America's Funniest People" (1990).
His first role in Hollywood was playing Bill Black, Elvis Presley's original bass player, which he performed with a broken finger. After strumming the bass for a day of shooting, it took an extra month for the finger to heal.
Robert's brother is film and television writer Lawrence G. DiTillio.
His parents, Gabriel and Katherine DiTillio, owned an amusement park where Robert spent many hours as a child.
As a teen, portrayed the 'Han Solo' character in an 8mm parody of 'Star Wars.'.
