Barry Duffield was born in 1962, Billingham, UK. He immigrated to Australia with his family in 1969 and they settled in the Bauxite mining town of Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory.His first foray into film was when he "borrowed" his fathers super-8mm-camera and created the all singing, all dancing, stop-motion Salt'N'Pepper shaker show. There was a guest appearance by a partially consumed milkshake in glass, but it still remains uncredited to this day.This was followed by the lawless years; a period where movie posters were the target and snatch'N'grab raids were undertaken at the local cinema. Have you ever tried to steal something that requires the careful removal of pins, so as not to damage the loot any further? Needless to say - He was caught! The options were short and none to agreeable, except one, the option to learn the ropes and work in the projection booth. By age thirteen Barry was hitting the cigarette burn cues like a pro, changing out carbon-rods with nary a burnt finger, and splicing film in a flash. This was heaven - Film, in all its glory!And then......A detour.Joined the Royal Australian Air Force at the ripe old age of 18 as a Police Dog Handler 1980 - 1993. Travelled through the South Pacific Island Nations 1993 - 1996.Immigrated to New Zealand 1996 and graduated South Seas Film & Television School. Class of 1997. Majored in Screenwriting & Directing; Drama & Multi-Cam.He is a working screenwriter. Married to Susan, his 2nd wife, and living in Auckland, New Zealand. His first feature film 'Damnation Island' (AKA) 'Dread' goes into production in Fiji, Janauary, 2008. Barry has also optioned several other screenplays.
