Imanol Arias began his career with a travelling theatre group in Spain performing in Euskadi (Basque). His debut as a movie actor was in "Cecilia (1980)" of 'Humberto Solas'. In 1987 he won the prize for interpretation of the Festival in San Sebastian for the biography of Eleuterio Sánchez in "Lute: Camina o Revienta, El (1987)" of 'Vicente Aranda.
