Born in Charleston, West Virginia, Hardiman began his interest in filmmaking at an early age. After school, he spent several years as a film critic before quitting to pursue a dream of making his own movies. Hardiman has since produced dozens of short films and a few features as well. He also fought a bear one time and killed it with only his hands.
