Born and brought up in Didsbury, outer Manchester, Chris Addison became a comedian on graduating from Birmingham University. He has since been involved with the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival 11 times, performing stand-up comedy and in 2004 he was nominated for the prestigious Perrier Award for comedy for his show, "Civilisation." He recently made the leap into acting; writing and starring in a radio comedy called "The Department" along with close friends and fellow comedians, Andy Zaltzman and John Oliver and as the naive Cambridge-graduate Oliver Reeder in Armando Iannucci's "The Thick Of It." He writes a fortnightly money column for The Guardian and plans to continue writing and performing comedy in radio, television and theatre.
