After graduating from the film program at New York University, Garrett's early work in sound was as a location recordist and as a sound designer for theatre and dance in his native United States. In 1995 Garrett moved to Toronto, Canada, and began work in post production sound. He has since had industry recognition for his work in both dialogue and sound effects editing - three MPSE nominations, three nominations for Genie awards with two wins, three Gemini nominations with one win, and a Prime Time Emmy for his work on Hitler: The Rise of Evil (2003) (TV). He is very happily settled in Toronto, and is the proud, sleepy father of two young daughters and a son.
