Anil Kumar is a working actor as well as writer and producer. He received his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University under the tutelage of William Esper and Maggie Flanigan. At Rutgers he studied Chekhov work with Lenard Petit, and mask work with Pierre LeFevre. His stage work includes Broadway, Off-Broadway, and many Regional productions, most notably: Macbeth (opposite Alec Baldwin, Angela Bassett, Liev Schreiber, and Zach Braff) at the Public Theatre's esteemed NY Shakespeare Festival. He originated the role of Mohammed in Manhattan Theatre Club's Broadway production of The Tale of the Allergist's Wife (starring Linda Lavin, Tony Roberts and Michelle Lee). He has collaborated with such artists as Joe Mantello, Joseph Chaikin, and Terrance McNally. Regional credits include: ACT's American premiere of Tom Stoppard's Indian Ink (w/ Jean Stapleton, Art Malik, and Susan Gibney); NJ Shakespeare Festival's Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet; and Cleveland Public's production of Harry Kondolean's Saved or Destroyed (where he originated the role of Vince).His film credits include: West Bank Brooklyn, Marmalade, Ballroom Nights, Story of a Bad Boy, American Desi, and the soon to be released Karaoke King. TV credits: JAG, Miss Match, ER, The Agency, OZ, Law and Order SVU, as well as the pilot Traffic. Most recently he can be seen in the final season of Six Feet Under, and season 4 of 24. He is a founding member of East 4th St. Productions, and is currently in preproduction of their first film - The Dairy Farm, Land of Milk and Hunnies.
