David graduated from Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School, where under the direction of Gilberto Zepeda Jr., now a Texas Commissioner of the Arts, he began his acting of sorts. He starred in theatrical productions such as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1985) and Snow White (1986). He has appeared in several television programs (see below).
