Vladimir Malakhov / Biography

Vladimir Malakhov was born on 30 August 1968 in Krivoy Rog, Ukraine. He began ballet lessons at the age of four. In 1978, he joined the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow and trained there until the age of eighteen. In 1986, he joined the Moscow Classical Ballet as the company's youngest principal dancer. In 1992, he joined the Vienna State Opera Ballet and, in 1994, he joined the National Ballet of Canada. In 1995, Malakhov debuted with the American Ballet Theater at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He remains a principal dancer with ABT. Malakhov currently resides in New York. He is unmarried and has no children.
