DeForest Mapp / Biography

Charismatic and full of vibrato, DeForest Kenneth Mapp was born in 1969 in Norfolk, Virginia. He is the first child of 5 children of a middle school principal father and a building code administrator mother. After graduating from I.C. Norcom High School, DeForest enrolled at Tennessee State University where he played trumpet in the "Aristocrat of Bands" while majoring in architectural engineering. But the acting "Bug" bit him mid way through school and DeForest began acting at a local Nashville church known for its elaborate theatre productions. After graduation, DeForest immediately moved to Los Angeles. This intense actor credits director Lawrence James and actress Tasha Smith for teaching him the necessary skills to "win every scene" in his work.DeForest and long time friend Demetrius Jones recently became finalists in Sundance's Writer's/Director's workshop for their screenplay, "The Interns"... the story of 5 cunning MBA students who manipulate their way into corporate America.
