Sijtze van der Meer / Biography

Born in Delft, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. Son of Jan (b. 1940) and Doety (b. 1947), both (now) retired teachers. Younger brother of Ariane (b. 1969), brother-in-law of Martin (b. 1967) and proud uncle of Sandra (b. 1999) and Jasper (b. 2001). Studied Kunst- en Cultuurwetenschappen at Erasmus University Rotterdam for three years (from 1991-1993), did an orientation year at the TVK in 1994, then attended the Mime-school in Amsterdam. Graduated in 1999. Started at the Toneelschool Amsterdam that same year, graduated in 2001 with playing 'Hamletmachine' by Heiner Muller, directed by Mark Colijn, a close friend and colleague. Is now working in theatre, mostly as a member of Wurz, a theatre-group run by Jules Terlingen. Hobbies are: reading, reading, reading, art in general and literature, theatre and film in particular.
