Joe Miale began classical training in visual arts when he was eight years old. He graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts film and television program in 2000. He worked for film distribution company Stratosphere Entertainment, filmed heart surgery videos in the operating room, and was hired to direct a video for the university, while he was still a student. His student film 'Toy' was nominated for 'Best Mini Short' from the Danville Children's Film Festival. His other student short, 'Nobody' won an Honorarium from the Gene Siskel Film Center's Comedy Series. Both films toured the festival circuit and found distribution on cable in New York City. Upon graduating from NYU, Joe edited TV commercials, the theatrical trailer for Jean-Luc Godard's 'In Praise of Love,' and co-edited Robert Orlando's feature film 'Moment In Time.' Less than a year out of film school, he was then hired to direct a 30-second web spot for the Copyright Association of America. He then directed a music video for 'Endless,' a single from indie band Etro Anime (www.etroanime.com) under Entry-1 Records. Joe directed his first broadcast commercial for Macy's when he was only 23. He has also directed TV spots for Bloomingdale's and Marshall Field's, as well as a celebrity-based PSA campaign for non-profit group DoSomething.org. His Gatorade spec spot, 'Keeps You Going' won First Place from C3 Cellular Cinema, the world's first-ever mobile phone film festival. Joe currently lives in Los Angeles where he works as a director and editor.
