He is an L.A. Lakers star.
Was always a Laker fan favorite, but he and Earvin "Magic" Johnson reportedly never got along. Their strife, however, didn't keep the Lakers from two NBA titles in 1979-80 and 1981-82 with the two forming one of the most potent guard tandems in NBA history. The conflict apparently reached a boiling point after the 1982-83 season, when the Lakers traded Nixon to the cross-town Los Angeles Clippers for a first-round draft pick, which became Byron Scott. Laker fans expressed their discontent with the trade by roundly booing Scott for most of his early years with the team.
Member of 1980 and 1982 NBA Championship teams.
Named to 1978 NBA All-Rookie team.
Guard for Los Angeles Lakers (1977-83) and San Diego/Los Angeles Clippers (1983-86 and 1988-89) of NBA and Scavolini Pesaro of Italian League (1988-89).
Brother-in-law of Phylicia Rashad, ex-brother-in-law of Ahmad Rashad.
