Best known for 2000 incident against the Dallas Cowboys where he repeatedly stood atop the Dallas Cowboys logo in mock tribute.
Former San Francisco 49ers player.
Lettered in football, track, baseball, and basketball at Benjamin Russell High (Alexander City, AL). Nearly quit football to concentrate on basketball, but was convinced not to by his football coach.
Won the celebrity slam dunk competition at the 2000 NBA All-Star Game.
Missed the deadline for notifying the 49ers of his intent to void the final three years of his deal. Owens and his agent David Joseph claim they weren't told the deadline was moved up to 21 February. Unless the league ruling is overturned, the team will be free to keep Owens's rights or trade him. Joseph has filed a grievance with the NFL Management Council. (27 February 2004)
Celebrated his first NFL touchdown by doing a "bank-head bounce" dance for his mother.
