Not my first steel bout, but my first steel bout with large machetes. James LaFond is a study in advanced offensive and defensive strategies melding together seamlessly to create a duelist that deals death wholesale. I am defeated by receiving two cuts to my hand, effectively disabling it were they sharpened machetes.

Nearly got caught in an armbar early on, but I'm too slick for that! Only to be caught in a leg submission at the end. This kid is good. My skills in grappling are Judo-based, making no-gi wrestling leg submissions largely alien to me. If I am to make the transition, however, I'm going to have to cowboy up and master both.
