Coulter & Limbaugh Introduce 1/2 Hour News Hour
Conservatives again prove they are adept at torture.
Hal Boedeker of the Orlando Sentinel reviews the travesty: Jon Stewart knows how to do slashing comical commentary. He weighs in on what's happening, such as the media's bizarre coverage of Anna Nicole Smith's death. Fox News Channel does not know how to do slashing comical commentary. This show was meant to be a conservative version of "The Daily Show." It is a botch. "The 1/2 Hour News Hour" does not comment on what is happening; it simply takes swipes at people. These people include Howard Dean, Hillary Clinton, Dennis Kucinich, Barack Obama and Ed Begley Jr. Other joke topics are the ACLU, Time magazine, children's books and global warming. Laughter, of an awfully canned variety, greets all the gags. Nothing happening on screen justifies these outbursts. Fox News Channel will offer a second episode at 10 p.m. March 4. If we're lucky, we'll never hear of this dreadful show again.

Tickets selling fast for Van Halen tour
Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with a UPI entertainment update on this Wednesday, August 22, 2007.
Fans are rushing to grab tickets for the upcoming Van Halen tour. Tickets for the concert series went on sale over the weekend and have already sold out in several cities. Tour producers say they're planning to add extra shows in Detroit and Philadelphia...where seats sold quickly. It's singer David Lee Roth's first time on the road with the band in 22 years.
Actor Zac Efron says starring in the "High School Musical" series has changed his life for the better. The actor says appearing in the two TV movies provides him with more opportunities and gives him the chance to travel. He tells "Access Hollywood" he was definitely not the cool kid in high school before. The films have been a huge hit for young viewers. The second installment "High School Musical 2" is reportedly the most watched show in cable TV history. The Disney Channel says overall an average of more than 17 million people tuned in last weekend.
Actor Brad Pitt says progress is being made in his green housing project in New Orleans. He stopped by the development yesterday and tells People magazine it's a "small little victory." The actor is teaming up with Global Green and the Home Depot Foundation for the project...expected to be completed next year. They're building several homes and apartments for those affected by Hurricane Katrina, using environmentally-friendly materials like energy saving appliances and more efficient light bulbs.
Actress and comedian Janeane Garofolo is joining the cast of "24." Garofalo will play an agent on the FOX TV thriller. Her presence on the show may make the workplace interesting...Garofalo is known for her liberal, anti-war views, while the show's executive producer Joel Surnow describes himself as a "right wing nut job." Production for the new season begins next month.
TV host star Jones celebrated her return to television with the ring of a bell. Yesterday she took part in the opening bell ceremony at the NASDAQ in New York. Jones, who left her spot on ABC's "The View" last year, is hosting a new show on Court TV. The new series called "Star Jones," premiered Monday and combines law with politics, pop culture and entertainment.
