Tana Umaga first match as player at Toulon
In october 2006, Tana Umaga joined Toulon Rugby Club for 3 months.
He arrived from Wellington only 3 days before this first match. With a 24 hours jet lag on his legs. And he will score the winning try in a strnog madness noise (viewable on another video).
This is just the players entering on the field, and the Toulon fans shout, the local "Haka" : the Pilou-Pilou (peeloo-peeloo), shouted for every games in Toulon since many years.

Here we present an extract from the chapter 'Lion King' from the new autobiography Tana Umaga Up Close, written by Tana Umaga with Paul Thomas.
I was very enthusiastic going into the first test in Christchurch. I'd been looking forward to it for two years and couldn't wait to give it everything I had. Not even some of the worst weather Christchurch could throw at us could change that.
Everyone knows - or thinks they know - what happened in the first 90 seconds. I went into a ruck and cleaned out Brian O'Driscoll. I was standing over the ball trying to protect it when he bounced back to have another crack at disrupting our possession. We were tussling as he tried to get through and I grabbed his leg to try to unbalance him, a technique I'd used before and still use to this day.
Umaga, whose father, Ropati, died on Saturday, also outlines in the book how a recurring knee injury suffered during the 2003 Rugby World Cup left him "running out of ligaments to hold (the knee) together".
He admits that without the "lure" of the coveted All Black jersey he struggled for motivation - and had discussed pulling out of this year's Super 14, but decided to stay after the New Zealand Rugby Union vetoed his request to be exempted from being picked up by another franchise in the draft.
Umaga's book blasts referees but some of his harshest criticism is reserved for O'Driscoll and his claims he was spear-tackled in 2005

Highlights. The famous 2000 Bledisloe match, one of the greatest games of rugby ever to take place.
Christian Cullen, Jonah Lomu and Tana Umaga terrorized the Aussies for the first quarter, before George Gregan, Stephen Larkham, Christ Latham and Stirling Mortlock led the counter. Justin Marshall and Jeremy Paul both scored in the second half before the game was decided a few minutes into injury time...
Note: I didn't record this off a TV screen...the dimensions are just screwed up for whatever reason.

Simon Shaw kneeing Robinson - Red card - NZ v ENG

New Zealand vs. England 2004. Simon Shaw gets red-carded in the 10th minute for kneeing All Black lock Keith Robinson during ruck-time. England, who had had a decent start to the test match, had to play with only 14 men for the rest of the match. They lost 36-12.
Clive Woodward, the English coach, was furious about the sending-off: "We had an incident in Wellington last year when Ali Williams (All Black lock) stomped all over Josh Lewsey's head and was cited, but got off scot free in front of the judiciary."
All Black's Coach, Graham Henry, had no comment. The New Zealand Captain, Tana Umaga claimed that a 15 vs. 15 game would have been better, as the sending-off greatly altered the composure of the two sides.
Keith Robinson, the played who got kneed, said this:
"I was on the bottom of a ruck and I heard the crowd go off. I didn't know what had happened. When I got up I saw the red card, but I can say he didn't hurt me in any way. They are a physical forward pack, but I don't think they were trying to target anyone in particular."
