Another one of those "WTF?!" scenes from a truly wretched movie. Gargoyles come to life in the desert and start kidnapping people. One gargoyle wants to see a hottie's boobies but then the king gargoyle (played by Bernie Casey!) intervenes. One hug and one butt slap later, everything is back to normal in Gargoyle-land.
One of the better TV movies made in the '70s. The special effects and makeup aren't bad given the year and low budget. The acting isn't terrible...just bad enough for a TV horror movie. Interesting story and premise. And Bernie Casey does an excellant job as "The Gargoyle." If you see this airing on cable or in the "cheap DVDs" its DEFINATELY worth watching!

A snippet of a scene from Ants that is indicative of all that is wrong with this film (well, TV movie, really).
The basic setup is that a construction crew has uncovered a nasty breed of ant that can kill you if you suffer enough bites. They have overrun the manor and the few people inside are ascending to the top level to escape them. Here, a helicopter rescues the owner of the manor.
Recall that the manor (and the grounds around it) are supposedly swarming with ants. Also note that the two different ways in which people are rescued here are not used again in the film.
Rest assured that you can cut the tension with a plastic knife.
Watch for some stalwart TV actors, like Brian Dennehy and Bernie Casey.
