- In the shot where you see Brad's character info pop up, you can see a fire alarm over his left shoulder, foreshadowing his actions later on in the film.
- In all of Brad's key scenes, you can hear music from a John Hughes film in the background. The songs are from The Breakfast Club (1985) and Pretty In Pink (1986).
- Greg makes a reference to lyrics by the Goo Goo Dolls "What you feel is what you are...". In the very last scene of the film, the song "Slide" by the Goo Goo Dolls is playing and the very lines "What you feel is what you are..." are heard.
- Jordan Gosling is the cousin of famous actor Ryan Gosling.
- The handwriting in the love letters belong to Alex Chung.
- Brad's threat "I'll sew your ass to your face" was lifted from an episode of Seinfeld.

- Henry's imitation of the sound of a drain is supposed to echo Lance's slurping.
