Bucky Covington - Wave on Wave
I'm not going to lie, but this is one of Bucky's 'lesser' songs.
I loved the tone of his voice on 'Thunder Rolls,' but sometimes the 'country-rock gargle' can sound a little forced.
This was forgettable.
I may be alone here, but Bucky started weak, got strong, then weakened again.
I thought he'd be out the next night.
Did he deserve to go?
NO!!
I think it's gotta be that stage.
It's a little circle.
You can't work the audience with such small space.
And performers who just stand there and sing sound fine, but when it's a boring 4 minute song than they should just stop for our benefit.
Isn't this song supposed to be louder?
If it had been a smidge bigger and faster I wouldn't have been as bored.
I think the band had to hold back back because of the size of the stage and the acoustics.
I blame Coca-Cola and Ford Vehicles.
But he made it!!
People from the South always make it.
Only this guy I have no complaints about.

Bucky Covington - Best I Ever Had
I don't know what it is about this performance, but I find Bucky DAMN sexy during 'Best I Ever Had.'
I DO!!!
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.
He can definately pull off a Cowboy outfit, ESPECIALLY when his hat is tipped downwards and the rim casts a shadow over his eyes, giving him this 'Lonely and Mysterious guy trying to find his Long Lost Love' look.
Maybe it's the dark 'brooding' thing that I found appealing.
Or the 'Strong Silent Type' thing all the ladies (and men with lady-like thoughts) secretly yearn for.
I mean, from 2:08 and on he looks like a completely different person.
The same can be said for 'Real Good Man.'
And the way he holds his microphone is so... butch. Even something as subtle as that I found hot.
Lone horseback riding men are just sexy.
It's probably all subconscious; we want to be that 'one' person the attractive man with an icy facade lets in.
Is it only me?
Does nobody think he's hot in his Cowboy Hat and matching coat?
I think he would've made it farther if he wore the outfits.
Vocally, I think this was his best performance on the show.
Even Simon swooned and couldn't think of anything bad to say.

I did NOT like this performance AT ALL.
It sounded like some manic teenager who got drunk and decided to perform at a Bumpkin Prom Night.
I liked that Bucky stuck to 'actual' country music during the Top 24.
That was what he was good at.
If American Idol rejected the themes, for at least 1 season, I'm pretty sure it'd be a lot better than what we've been getting.
Don't get me wrong, I love every season better than the last.
But if we got to see the contestants perform at their strongest EVERY night, it'd be more of a competition.
It would be a completely different show.
I still liked Bucky, yeah.
But I think it was the song that was just... bleh.
It seemed pointless.
I really really hated it.

What the hell is that about?
I knew Bucky 'couldn't' win because, vocally, there were a few who would outshine him.
Performance-wise, he was still pretty high up there.
But I didn't want him to go him when he didn't deserve to.
I wonder what the public votes on...
A lot of people were talking about how everybody in Rockingham was voting away every night for the guy, and that's the 'only' reason he made it as far as he did.
Lies. All LIES!!!
Cause at least 90% of those votes came from me, all the way over here in NY.
Yes, me having no life was a factor.
But Bucky was good!! I liked him A LOT better than Ace Young.
I'm sorry, but that guy had a lot of 'shoot-and-miss' performances.
And I also notice Bucky smiles a lot.
Which is better than what Ace does: squint... and stare.
But Buck's got signed!

Bucky Covington - Thunder Rolls
When Bucky first came out on to the Idol stage and did a hideous version of the Lynyrd Skynyrd song 'Simple Man' (which I don't have, so don't bother asking), I felt bad.
I thought he was cute, and had a good voice.
But the performance lacked a lot and his voice (especially in the middle) was this really ugly rough gravely shouting tone.
And since we knew absolutely nothing about him, I thought he'd just go home right after.
He was one of the several Idol 'strangers' we met when the Top 24 was announced, and he didn't have that extra 'cushion' to fallback on incase of a botched lyric or bad song choice.
But, America let him through (which I thought was great).
'Let's give him another shot' I thought to myself.
And TADA! He redeemed himself and made me a total Bucky Fanatic.
Definately one of his strongest performances.
I LOVE Country (which you don't hear very often, coming from a male hispanic teenager).
And Bucky does it with flair and sexy goo-goo eyes at the camera.
