Speedy Gonzalez - Pat Boone tribute

A tribute to Pat Boone.
The beautiful girl in the video is ROMINA CHIRRE, a good friend. She's a very talented singer / guitar-player in her own right - check out her profile at:
http://www.rominachirre.com/

Written by Buddy Kaye, Ethel Lee & David Hill

Spoken:
It was a moonlit night in old Mexico. I walked alone between some old adobe haciendas. Suddenly, I heard the plaintive cry of a young Mexican girl.

(Female voice singing a series of 'La-la-la's')

You better come home, Speedy Gonzales
Away from Tannery Row
Stop alla your a-drinkin'
With that floozie named Flo
Come on home to your adobe
And slap some mud on the wall
The roof is leakin' like a strainer
There's loadsa roaches in the hall
Speedy Gonzales, why don'tcha come home?
Speedy Gonzales, how come ya leave me all alone?

Spoken in a male Mexican accent
Hey, Rosita
I hafta go shopping downtown for my mudder
She needs some tortillas and chili peppers

(Female voice singing a series of 'La-la-la's')

Your doggy's gonna have a puppy
And we're runnin' outta coke
No enchiladas in the icebox
And the television's broke
I saw some lipstick on your sweatshirt
I smelled some perfume in your ear
Well if you're gonna keep on messin'
Don't bring your business back a-here
Mmm, Speedy Gonzales, why don'tcha come home?
Speedy Gonzales, how come ya leave me all alone?

Spoken in a male Mexican accent
Hey, Rosita
Come queek
Down at the cantina they giving green stamps with tequila!!

Lyrics:
Say your prayers little one
Dont forget, my son
To include everyone

Tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
Till the sandman he comes

Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight

Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
Off to never never land

Something's wrong, shut the light
Heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of snow white

Dreams of war, dreams of liars
Dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite

Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight

Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
Off to never never land

Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
Pray the lord my soul to take

Hush little baby, dont say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beast under your bed,
In your closet, in your head

Exit light
Enter night
Grain of sand

Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
We're off to never never land

Pat Boone - Crazy Train

Crazy, but thats how it goes
Millions of people living as foes
Maybe its not to late
To learn how to love
And forget how to hate

Mental wounds not healing
Lifes a bitter shame
Im going off the rails on a crazy train

Ive listened to preachers
Ive listened to fools
Ive watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules
One person conditioned to rule and control
The media sells it and you have the role

Mental wounds still screaming
Driving me insane
Im going off the rails on a crazy train

I know that things are going wrong for me
You gotta listen to my words
Yeh-h

Heirs of a cold war
Thats what weve become
Inheriting troubles Im mentally numb
Crazy, I just cannot bear
Im living with something that just isnt fair

Mental wounds not healing
Who and whats to blame
I'm going off the rails on a crazy train

Pat Boone - Aint That A Shame

As an alternative to emerging rock and roll in the fifties, Pat Boone made his way onto the scene with his handsome, boy-next-door looks and Christian morals. Born in Jacksonville, Florida in June of 1934, Boone began his singing career while still a young teenager by winning an amateur talent show, which led to numerous appearances and some recording in Nashville. After signing with Dot Records, Boone launched his career and in terms of popularity, ended up just shy of Elvis Presley. He went on to record numerous hits and author many books, as well as hosting his own variety series and eventually signing an acting contract with 20th Century Fox.

Boone married Shirley Foley, daughter of country star Red Foley, while still in school and fathered four daughters, one of which took after her father and made her own singing career. Debby Boone became popular in the late 1970s for her hit song You Light Up My Life, and this seemed to revive her father's career, also. He tried his hand at producing and starring in a Christmas special and hosting a couple of variety chat shows for The Nashville Network.

Pat's cover of Fat's DOmino's Aint That A Shame is one of the best he ever did in my opinion. It was rated #12 for the year 1955.

Pat Boone - You've Got Another Thing Comin'

One life I'm gonna live it up
I'm takin' flight I said I'll never get enough
Stand tall I'm young and kinda proud
Im on top as long as the musics loud

If you think I'll sit around as the world goes by
You're thinkin' like a fool cause its a case of do or die
Out there is a fortune waitin' to be had
You think I'll let it go you're mad
You've got another thing comin'

That's right here's where the talkin' ends
Well listen this night there'll be some action spent
Drive hard I'm callin' all the shots
I got an ace card comin' down on the rocks

If you think I'll sit around while you chip away my brain
Listen I ain't foolin and you'd better think again
Out there is a fortune waitin' to be had
You think I'll let it go you're mad
You got another thing comin'

In this world were livin' in we have our share of sorrow
Answer now is don't give in aim for a new tomorrow

Oh so hot no time to take a rest yeah
Act tough ain't room for second best
Real strong got me some security
Hey I'm a big smash I'm goin' for infinity yeah

If you think I'll sit around as the world goes by
You're thinkin' like a fool cause its a case of do or die
Out there is a fortune waitin' to be had
You think I'll let it go you're mad
You've got another thing comin'

Then, they sing a duet of 'My One And Only Heart'. On one of Perry's TV Shows, from 1957. This video footage is taken from the compilation VHS - 'The Best Of Perry Como Volume Two', originally released in 1992.
