beachwood rockers' society part two
hi friends... so here's the second part of the beachwood rockers' documentary. in this "episode" i introduce you to the musicians involved in the society. as i've stated, this weekly wednesday night of music began in april of 2006. originally grown from a lissie residency with special guests scrappy hamilton, it included fellow friends and musicians from our community and social circle. the success and vibrance of the event drew interest from other musicians in town and it's thrived as a local, low-key spot to see incredible live music for free! myself, scrappy hamilton ( walker young, scott kinnebrew, bill "smitty" smith), and ed mattiuzzi of lowlight work together to book and promote the evening. the "forward" in this video is provided by andrew calder, an incredible spirit, artist, & great supporter whom i've been fortunate enough to meet and befriend in my time here in los angeles. his insight sums up a lot of my feelings about what motivated me to relocate to such a hectic city and gravitate towards other like minded folks to create one's own world of possibilities. the musicians featured here are... (look 'em up on myspace!) walker young of scrappy hamilton scott kinnebrew of scrappy hamilton ed mattiuzzi of lowlight bill "smitty" smith of scrappy hamilton jaime castro of love letters to a vampire tripp rezac rodney eastman of king straggler george stanford john hawkes of king straggler brian "the lad" maguire of gene wilder kelly barnes of ragsy jeff "pants" veal of peacock peter twis of peacock
i wonder, scientifically, if the process of observation alters that which is being observed, whether drawing attention to the specialness of a sort of thing would essentially destroy that which makes it special. i've felt the magic first hand, but wonder how long a good thing can last? i wanted to share it , all the same! thanks for watching,, i hope you enjoy it!
