HCJB Global Hands Responds to Peru Earthquake
We urgently need your prayers and support!
Wednesday afternoon the people of southern Peru were violently affected by an 8.0-magnitude earthquake. With over 500 dead, and another 1600 to 1700 people injured, the aftershocks continued well into Friday morning.
HCJB Global, in partnership with Samaritans Purse, sent a medical team to the area. Saturday, August 18, a group of 9, including national family practitioners; doctors of general medicine, internal medicine, trauma and orthopedics, ER and intensive care; a plastic surgeon, a pastor and a counselor were sent down from our hospital in Quito, Ecuador. They began work on Sunday, and will stay for one week.

Peruvian President Alan Garcia has vowed that an earthquake-ravaged region of coastal Peru will reach what he called "a situation approaching normality" within about 10 days.
The president made his remarks as residents of the towns of central coastal Peru such as Pisco and Ica struggled to clean up and recover bodies after Wednesday's magnitude-eight earthquake that killed at least 510 people, more than 200 kilometers southeast of the capital, Lima.
Some 1,500 people were injured in the earthquake, and thousands have been left homeless, in need of food and medical attention. Mobs in quake-stricken areas have looted pharmacies, markets and trucks carrying emergency supplies.
President Garcia issued an appeal for calm on Friday. He says he understands people's desperation but promised no one would die of hunger or thirst.

Gas / the water service stops. In Niigata, the same earthquake occurred three years ago. There is an important problem. There is the dispatch source of the earthquake right under a nuclear power plant. The Japanese will doubt safety of the atomic energy remark place very much. The reason is because a big fire occurs at a nuclear power plant. The people mind that the gas smells.

Verdugo Earthquake Exercise by BCG for FOX Studios
An earthquake exercise scenario by BCG. A 6.5 magnitude earthquake centered near the Burbank Airport rocked the Southland the day before the exercise. The earthquake caused less dramatic damage then the Northridge earthquake but more wide spread areas of damage. There were some building collapses and damage, injuries, utility outages, freeway damage, and many other incidents and problems. At 9:34am the day of the exercise a 5.5 aftershock hits, causing additional damage and incidents. This exercise dealt with issues and problems still pending/unresolved from the previous days earthquake, the aftershock its self, and the new incidents and problems resulting from that aftershock.
