Turntable adapted technics on Handsonic PART#5 (by Smith)
A synthesis of techniques shown in previous parts (videos#1-4), always using Smith's "pinky technique" in a break-beat oriented playing.
The routines obtained here were partly inspired -- in their content and esthetic -- by turntablist Mix Master Mike. Although nothing can rival real vinyl manipulation by experts, a personal adaptation of these techniques on Handsonic makes imagine new ways in real time electronics.

Music Video: Disfunktionality (2006) Pt 4 (High Quality)
'Disfunksionality' is a CD album I created in October 2006 as a portfolio piece only. It consists of 33 condensed songs, or music that I have edited down from 4-5 minutes to 1-2 minutes through cutting choruses and mixing. Overall it lasts about 76 minutes. It began as a practical project I created at home which was to serve multiple purposes for the needs of my workplace.
At the time, I needed to establish different technologies for the appropriate workshop classes I was going to teach. In Business Studies the workshop I wanted to put together involved making detailed notes, digitally through the use of dicta-phones and editing the samples. In English Language there were various audio editing workshops that served the purposes of radio plays with sound effects edited in. In Media Studies there were multimedia projects such as creating CD covers and how to blend the images and fit the dimensions into a CD case.
From creating the CD I learned the packages, Adobe Photoshop, Audacity (freeware), as well as how to apply the creative skills required making it work.
As well as creating this from a very practical viewpoint it also acts as a portfolio piece as well as something I will listen to at home, as it combines my favourite dance and urban music. I have also experimented with mixing my own vocals at the very start of the disk. The final edition is represented on CD with the following pictures cut out, it is also split into various tracks.
I currently own all the original copies of all the disks and have not used this for any public broadcasting, selling, copying, or reproduction. The purpose of the music is only to represent my skills as an editor. The access to the track is limited to permitted persons only.
Upon listening to it, I do not expect you to listen to the entire disk although I personally do, because it is a compilation of my favourite dance and urban music. The main parts I would like to draw your attention to are the mixes and samples used.
If you listen from 00.00 to 01.30 (minutes and seconds), you will be able to hear how I have taken my own voice mixed, sampled and manipulated it in rhythm to the music. In this timeframe you will also hear my first mix of the album, mixing from 'Witness Dub' from Roots Manuva to track two with 'Sound Advice' from Roni Size.
If you later skip, (using the timeline bar at the bottom of the screen), to 22.45 to 23.15 you will hear another good mix going from 'Hip Hop' by Dead Prez to track 11 'Premier's X-Ecution' by The X-Ecutioners.
The next good mix starts at 36.05 with 'Sandalia Da Prata' by Syndicate Featuring Janaina Holland and goes to 36.35 at track 17 with 'Another Planet' by Pendulum.
Then straight after 'Another Planet' at 38.40, the mix into track 18 'Geht's Noch' mixed by Mogwai at 39.20 is one of the better mixes too.
Then, what has to be my favourite mix is from 41.45 with 'Geht's Noch' to track 19 'Gyromancer' PMT at 42.30, mainly because I did not have to slow the tracks up or down at the end.
Between track 22 with 'Can Of Kick Ass' by Mix Master Mike at 50.00 and track 23 with 'System Check' by Roni Size at 50.40 is another good mix.
Most of the mixes are good and the ones I have pointed out here are among the better ones.

CCVS27 BEASTIE BOYS "Body Movin" Beastie Boys are a Jewish American hip hop musical group from New York City consisting of Michael "Mike D" Diamond, Adam "MCA" Yauch, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz. The official DJ for the group is Michael "Mix Master Mike" Schwartz.
They started out as a hardcore punk rock group in 1979 and have, since their switch to hip hop and release of their debut album Licensed to Ill (1986), enjoyed international critical acclaim and commercial success. They are well-known for their eclecticism, jocular and flippant attitude toward interviews and interviewers, obscure cultural references and kitschy lyrics, and performing in outlandish matching suits.
They are one of the longest-lived hip hop acts and continue to enjoy commercial and critical success in 2007, more than 20 years after the release of their debut album. On September 27, 2007 they were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. http://www.beastieboys.com/ The Beastie Boys came together in 1979 as a punk band called The Young Aborigines.[2] In 1981 Adam Yauch (MCA) joined the group and from the suggestion of their guitarist John Berry, they changed the name to Beastie Boys. The name "Beastie" is sometimes thought to have originally stood for "Boys Entering Anarchistic States Towards Internal Excellence," and that the initials B.B. intended to mimic Washington DC punk band Bad Brains, however these were actually after-thoughts once the band's name was already Beastie Boys, according to Mike D and MCA on the Charlie Rose Show, August 28, 2007. The band's original line-up consisted of Adam Yauch on bass, Kate Schellenbach on drums, John Berry on guitar, and Michael Diamond (Mike D) on vocals. Their first gig was at Berry's house on Yauch's 17th birthday. The band quickly earned support slots for Bad Brains, the Dead Kennedys, and Reagan Youth at venues such as CBGB and Max's Kansas City, playing at the latter venue on its closing night. That same year, the Beastie Boys recorded the 7" EP Pollywog Stew at 171A studios, an early recorded example of New York hardcore.
John Berry left the group (later forming Thwig) and was replaced by Adam Horovitz (Ad-rock)—who had previously played in the punk band, The Young and the Useless in 1983.
