Andrew Van de Kamp [S2E19 Part 1]

THE CAVALRY

The day of the trial and Bree's father Henry Mason (Ronnie Cox) and step mother Eleanor (Carol Burnett) arrive and take matters into their own hands. No need airing the family's "dirty laundry."

The Mason's decide to take Andrew back to Rhode Island with them and Eleanor has cold words for Bree.

Marc Cherry wrote Eleanor as the evil step mother and Carol Burnett requested of Marc to make her a little meaner.

Some of My Best Friends: Pilot - Part 2/2

This CBS show about gay/straight roommates who share a Greenwich loft ran for only 7 episodes in 2001. And most people couldn't even find the show after episode 3 because CBS kept shifting it. The real deathblow was the constant comparisons to NBC's Will & Grace, which already ha established audience. Needless to say, America was not ready for 2 gay sitcoms.

The show was based on the movie, Kiss Me Guido. The story begins with a straight Italian actor answering a roommate-wanted ad, thinking "GWM" meant "guy with money." (for those who don't know, it means Gay White Male) And the rest is somewhat predictable but still funny (if stereotypes don't offend you).

In my opinion, this was a better comedy than W&G. Both shows relied heavily on stereotypes but SoMBF was less over-the-top, thus more realistic. There was no Jack or Karen to distract from believability. Alec Mapa comes close but I actually know people like him. Incidentally, he plays the first gay Asian character on US TV.

The headwriter was Marc Cherry, who also created The Golden Girls and Desperate Housewives.

==========

Notes on the video: Sorry for the high pitched voices. No, it's not Jason Batemaan trying to sound gay. LOL I sped up much of the video by 10% so that I can divide the 22 min episode into 2 ten minute segments instead of 3. The dialogue should still be intelligible.

Desperate Housewives - Stephen Sondheim Birthday Tribute

Filmed segment featuring the main cast of Desperate Housewives naming their "favorite" Stephen Sondheim song, complete with Mary Alice voice-over and even a visit from the deceased Martha Hueber. Bree Van De Kamp's choice gets an especially good reaction from the already excited crowd.

Creator Marc Cherry is a big fan of musical theater composer Stephen Sondheim, and Desperate Housewives episode titles all come from Sondheim song titles or lyrics.

Shown at Stephen Sondheim's 75th Birthday Concert on July 8, 2005 at the Hollywood Bowl in LA.

Les Girls - Arleen Sorkin

Les Girls 6 is an irreverent and wickedly funny cabaret that benefited NBCC's work to increase funding for breast cancer research and ensure that low income and uninsured women have access to treatment. It was an incredible evening of entertainment made possible by the donated performances of some of Hollywood's top personalities.

Past Les Girls: Helen Hunt, Christine Lahti (Emmy Winner for Chicago Hope), Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives), Anthony LaPaglia, Eric McCormack (Will and Grace), Steven Weber, Jane Leeves (Frasier), Allison Janney (The West Wing), Faith Prince (Guys and Dolls), Cady Huffman (The Producers), Peri Gilpin (Frasier), Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives creator); Harriet Harris and Brenda Strong (Desperate Housewives); Persia White (Girlfriends), Tracee Ellis Ross (Girlfriends), Golden Brooks (Girlfriends).

Even though this was a fundraiser, we spared no expense to ensure the entertainment and fun was top shelf.

No long speeches. Just outrageous fun for the great cause of finding a cure for breast cancer. (more)

The Crew: The Man We Love (series finale) - Part 1/

This 1995 Fox sitcom ran for one season with 21 episodes. This final episode, The Man We Love, aired on 6/30/96, and is reminiscent of silly sitcoms like Three's Company. The Executive Producer was Marc Cherry, who also did The Golden Girls, Some of My Best Friends, and presently, Desperate Housewives.
