The 'Dueling Banjos' scene from the beginning of Deliverance. Ronny Cox plays Drew, who, while they stop to figure out how to get some gas and figure out how to get their cars up river, plays guitar with the hillbilly kid, who tears it up well on the banjo and plays circles around Cox. Quite an uplifing scene, as all the characters in the scene take notice and have a good time- including the hillbilly's family. Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds and Ned Beatty are Cox's buddies on their nightmare trip.

Over 40 drafts of the script were written, some of which depicted Quaid as a mild-mannered accountant (instead of a construction worker).
Arnold Schwarzenegger was originally going to play the title role in RoboCop (1987) but problems with the costume caused them to drop the idea. Schwarzenegger heard about this and saw Robocop. Afterwards he expressed that he loved the movie and wanted to work with director Paul Verhoeven. They both heard about this movie and decided to work on that.
