Kasrvnotebook: Duran Duran was created by Nick Rhodes (keyboards) and John Taylor (bass), with the later addition of Roger Taylor (drums), Andy Taylor (guitar), and Simon Le Bon (lead vocals); none of the Taylors are related. The group has never disbanded, but the line-up changed to include guitarist Warren Cuccurullo from 1989 to 2001, and drummer Sterling Campbell from 1989 to 1991. The reunion of the original five members in the early 2000s created a stir among music media and the band's fans. Andy Taylor has since left the band once more. They were the most commercially successful of the New Romantic bands and a leading band in the MTV-driven "Second British Invasion" of the United States. During the past three decades they have placed 21 singles in the Billboard Hot 100 and 30 in the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart, and have sold more than 85 million records.
Kasrvnotebookpage2: Traci Lords (born Nora Louise Kuzma on May 7, 1968), also known as Traci Elizabeth Lords and Tracy Lords, is an American film actress, producer, film director, writer and singer. She first achieved notoriety for her underage appearances in pornographic films and Penthouse magazine (she was around 16 years old in her first film), later becoming a television and B-movie actress. 1,000 Fires is the first and only music album by singer and multi-instrumentalist, Traci Lords which was released in 1995. It became a surprise hit album after the #1 hit, "Control" became popular in both the U.S. and the U.K. An Instrumental version of the song "Control" was used in 1995 as part of the soundtrack to the Mortal Kombat movie. The albums highlights include, "Outlaw Lover", "Good-N-Evil", "Fly", "I Want You", "Say Something" and, "Okey Dokey." It is currently out of print.
Kasrvnotebookpage3: Kerr Clutural Center: Louise Lincoln Kerr was born April 25, 1892 in Ohio. She was the eldest child of John C. Lincoln, founder of the Lincoln Electric Company and one of America's greatest inventors. At a young age, Louise, became very fond of music. She studied music in New York City and attended Barnard College and Columbia University.
Throughout her life, Louise Kerr had a dream -- to create an artist colony where established and emerging musicians, artists and writers could come together, practice their craft and learn from each other. In the late 1940s, the first colony structure was built in Scottsdale, a spacious five--room adobe home where she lived. Eventually, a performance hall, dubbed "The Studio", began to take shape. Adorned with a tile roof, massive hand--hewn beams, hand--forged wrought--iron chandeliers and railings, and beautifully crafted handmade doors and bookcases (made by Mrs. Kerr's friend, Tucson artist Charles W. Bolsius); the two adobe buildings reflected the classic Southwestern architectural style Mrs. Kerr had grown to admire.
Mrs. Kerr died December 10, 1977 in Cottonwood, Arizona at her beloved ranch, which is now the home and studio of her friend, artist John Waddell. Her death was noted in papers throughout the state with such headlines as "She Also Pioneered", "Patron of the Arts", "Music Loses a Friend" and "Grand Lady of Music".

"Don't expect a lot from this show." Was the unofficial motto of KASR VIDEO, which made a pleasant surprise when we actually knocked out a great show! The program was a weekly 2 hour public access offshoot of the Arizona State University's original alternative radio station that aired in Phoenix. The music video show featured rarely seen videos and "new" music not in the "main stream." Along with non-conventional interviews it became a decent way to nurse a hangover with the midnight party crowd. These clips are edited as a sort of best of; minus the music videos.

I got the call to shoot this clip with them in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The guys were the greatest to work with. Simon gave a big bear hug when we first met, and Nick quietly offered introspective conversation between takes. John Taylor was the first to hint at anyone making a movie version of the book "Clockers". They were all consummate professionals, as well as perfect characters.
In the video, the waterfalls behind Simon are the largest in the world...Iguazu Falls. And yes, that's Milton Nascimento wearing a Miles Davis t-shirt whilst singing in Portugese!
Rarely seen video clip from the "Duran Duran 2" CD (aka "The Wedding Album")...reaffirms Duran Duran's place amongst premier pop bands.

Fire burns the countryside in Tanzania
Controlled burning in Tanzania. Fires are set on purpose, to preserve the traditional ecology. As it was explained to me, if they did not burn away the scrubby growth and underbrush (incredibly the fires burns out naturally without killing the trees) the landscape would turn into an impenetrable, jungle-like terrain. It was a truly surreal sight to witness. Birds by the thousands swoop in to feed on the fleeing insects. The lions in this clip were conscious enough of the fire to keep an eye on it, but they walked a few more feet away and lay down, appearing totally unconcerned. It was hard not to think of the annual, disastrous wildfires that were burning back in the states! And it raises an interesting question. Do you destroy one form of life to preserve another? Is the ecology that is being preserved natural or is it only being maintained in a manner fit for humans? I honestly don't know. I hope that this clip, in some small way, expresses the other-worldliness of being there and witnessing it first hand. It's impossible to describe how bizarre it is to be traveling through wilds of Tanzania while fires, sometimes miles long, burn unattended in the distance or in some cases, only a few feet away from you. I have never seen anything like it in my life, and it certainly isn't a sight I'll ever encounter in New York City! I shot the video while laying on top of the roof of a jeep. Music track is from "Machine Language" by Warren Cuccurullo. The track is entitled "Nightmare on Dickens Street." All sounds heard during this clip were made with a guitar (except during the closing title card).
