El film, coescrito junto a Roman Coppola y Jason Schwartzman, cuenta en su reparto con Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson y el propio Schwartzman, junto a Natalie Portman, Bill Murray y Angelica Huston.
Fue descrita en su premiere como "una comedia emocional en la que tres hermanos salen al encuentro de sus raíces familiares a lo largo de un viaje por el sensual paisaje de la India". Una trama que ya deja vislumbrar algunos de los referentes y lugares comunes de la filmografía de Anderson, así como dos sinceros homenajes: uno, al director indio Satyajit Ray, y otro, a "El Río" de Jean Renoir (Scorsese invitó a Anderson a verlo en la sala donde guarda su preciada colección privada de películas).
Se estrena en España el 4 de Enero de 2008.

Wes Anderson Directorial début starring Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Lumi Cavazos, Robert Musgrave and James Caan. A romantically, highly charged scene from Bottle Rocket that is one of my personal favourite sequences from the film and highlights the outstanding talents of director Wes Anderson. The exceptional use of music, as in all Anderson's productions, is a perfect accompaniment. Music is by Love, and the legend that was Arthur Lee 'Alone Again Or' taken from the 1967 album 'Forever Changes' simply breathtaking stuff.
