Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich: "Privatizing Iraq's Oil is Theft!"
At at noon press conference, on May 24, 2007, at the Cannon Terrace, on Capitol Hill, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH), ripped into the Bush-Cheney Gang's legislative scheme to privatize the oil of Occupied Iraq. He charged: "Privatizing Iraq's oil is theft." He also called the Iraq Supplemental Bill: "a moment of truth for the Democratic Party." Rep. Kucinich explained how the proposed Bill, now pending before the U.S. Congress, via its benchmarks, will provide for the privatization of Iraqi oil. It requires the regime in Iraq to pass a law called, "The Hydrocarbon Act." If they refuse to do so over a billion dollars in reconstruction funds will be blocked by the Bush-Cheney administration, he claimed. This measure, which Rep. Kucinich characterized as "blackmail," would permit multinational oil corporations---many based in the U.S.--to exercise control over the Iraqi oil. The Democratic leadership in the Congress is giving its explicit support to this legislative device. Unless the scheme is stopped, Rep. Kucinich predicted, we will be looking at an Iraqi War "going on forever!" For more details, check out: http://www.bushagenda.net/article.php?id=369

On June 26, 2006, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) was one of the speakers at the ACLU-sponsored "Day of Action to Restore Law and Justice" rally. Rep. Kucinich said: "This sacred document [the U.S. Constitution] has been under assault in ways unprecedented in the history of this country...This administration [the Bush-Cheney Gang] must be held accountable and this is one of the reasons why I introduced the Articles of Impeachment [H Res 333]...We must save our Constitution...and challenge this administration." The spirited event was held at the Upper Senate Park, opposite the U.S. Capitol, in Washington, D.C.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich: Stealing Iraq's Oil "Is a War Crime!"
Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) charged: "To steal Iraq's oil resources is in itself a War Crime...It cries out for justice...The wealth of Iraq belongs to the people of Iraq." He spoke at a press conference on Capitol Hill, on Sept. 5, 2007. The popular Congressman comments were made in solidarity with the efforts of US Labor Against the War (USLAW); United for Peace & Justice (UFPJ); and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC). These groups are supporting the Iraqi Oil Workers and their unions in opposing the scheme launched by the Bush-Cheney Gang to privatize most of Iraq's oil. Earlier in the day, a rally was held at the office of Bearing Point, near the Navy Yard. Bearing Point is the contractor, who the unions claim was "hired to do the job!" After speeches at that site, the demonstrators marched to the U.S. Capitol. Mrs. Hashmeya Muhsin Hussein, President of the Iraqi Electrical Unity Workers, also spoke at the Kucinich's press conference. It was held on the Cannon's Terrace. Kucinich praised, too, the "courage" of the Iraqi oil workers and their union leaders. Rep. Kucinich to Dem. Leadership: "Stand Up" to Pres.
On Oct. 10, 2007, Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) demanded that the Democratic leadership "stand up" to President George W. Bush, with respect to ending the illegal and immoral war in Iraq. He underscored how the Democrats won the election in 2006 by promising the American people that they would end the war if they gained control of the U.S. Congress. Rep. Kucinich, in taking sharp exception to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's views on ending the conflict, said: "You don't need another vote...another Bill to end this war. There is money available today to bring the troops home...There are men and women [our troops] dying right now [in Iraq]...This was a war based on lies..." He added that a "similar path of lies" are being laid to take the country into a war with Iran. Rep. Kucinich's remarks were made at a press conference, held on the Cannon Terrace, in Washington, D.C. For background, see: http://kucinich.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentI D=76042.

Rep. Delahunt Critiques Iraqi Oil Giveaway Scheme
On July 18, 2007, a joint hearing was called by the House Subcommittees on the Middle East and South Asia; and on the International Organizations, Human Rights and Oversight. Rep. William D. Delahunt (D-MA) is the Chairman of the latter Subcommittee. The hearing dealt with the subject matter: "Reconstruction in Iraq's Oil Sector: Running on Empty." Chairman Delahunt sharply critiqued the Iraqi Oil Giveaway scheme. The law, a privatization ploy, was recently passed by the U.S. Congress. It pressures the Iraqi Parliament, via "The Hydrocarbon Act" to give away about 75 percent of its national oil resources to foreign oil companies. It was pushed by the Bush-Cheney Gang. For background on this matter, please check out Ms. Antonia Juhasz's Op Ed piece in the NYT, on March 13, 2007, at:http://www.bushagenda.net/article.php?id=369; also, the statement of Rep. Dennis J.
