Salt Lake City 2002 OC - Sting, Yo-Yo Ma and Olympic Oaths
In this clip, Sting sings his song "Fragile" here with Yo-Yo Ma. For those who do not know about Yo-Yo Ma, he is an accomplished cellist of Chinese descent from France. Along with this scene, the "doves of peace" is shown in a somewhat similar fashion from the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games opening ceremony.
The Olympic oaths here are taken by these two men:
- Jim Shea, of the American skeleton team then, recited the oath in behalf of all athletes. He would then win the gold medal in the men's event mentioned later in the Games.
- Allen Church would recite the oath in behalf of all judges. Nobody could have known what scandal would come out later in the Games that tested Rogge's position as IOC President then.
