Whatever happens in Vegas won't include Dave Chappelle apparently.
The outspoken comedian has scrapped a performance at Las Vegas' Comedy Festival that was scheduled for Thursday at the Colosseum at Caesar's Palace, according to a message on Ticketmaster's Website.
Filling in for Chappelle at the second annual shindig, which is being sponsored by HBO and AEG Live and runs Nov. 14 through 18, will be late night comic Bill Maher. The scathing political satirist was set to follow the funnyman, but will now perform an extended version of his stand-up bit which will start an hour earlier at 9:30 p.m.
No reason was given for the cancellation and neither reps for HBO nor Chappelle could be reached for comment. Refunds are available at point of purchase.
The Dayton (Ohio) Daily News said the comedian, who performed stand-up at Sunday's event, praised the people of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and said he intends to stay in the area....

If Dave Chappelle's fans had been able to catch the four episodes of his hit sketch comedy show that he made last year before he escaped the looming threat of a $50 million contract and skipped town--perhaps they wouldn't have been quite so surprised.
While the so-called "Chappelle's Show: The Lost Episodes" airing Sunday on Comedy Central is vintage Chappelle--smart, racy, culturally incorrect, socio-politically charged and freakin' hilarious--the bits also seem to foreshadow the series' creator's next move, which was to blow that whitewashed popsicle stand while he still had his creative integrity.
